Another youngster demanding Telangana state tried to set himself ablaze after pouring diesel over himself near the entrance of the state Legislative Assembly on Thursday. Since he was drenched in the rain his self-immolation attempt failed and the alert security personnel caught hold of him. Subsequently, he was arrested by the police.
Just a day before, an engineering graduate had attempted suicide in front of the Secretariat.� According to V Umender, inspector of police, Saifabad, A Sridhar Goud, a 25 year-old native of Veldurthy in Medak district, arrived near Gate No. 2 of the Assembly around 1.50 pm, poured diesel all over his body and lighted a match. But the diesel did not catch fire as he had been drenched in the heavy rain by then. The few policemen posted nearby saw him and nabbed him.� The Saifabad police arrested him and registered a case under Section 309 (Attempt to commit suicide) of IPC. Goud, a polytechnic college dropout, is president of the the BJP unit of Veldurthy mandal in Medak district.
On Wednesday 22-year-old A Sandeep Reddy, who hails from Godavarikhani in Karimnagar district,�� went near the Secretariat and roamed there for some time.� After nearing the entrance, he whipped out a knife and stabbed himself in the stomach while shouting `Jai Telangana’. Having studied BTech at an engineering college on the outskirts of the city, he is in search of a job. He lives at Kompally.
